This usually takes a few seconds.
What does the checker verify?
- The
<link rel="icon">,apple-touch-icon,mask-iconandmanifestdeclarations of the page, plus the default/favicon.icoand/apple-touch-icon.png. - That each icon downloads (HTTP status, redirects, content type) and is a real image of the declared type and size.
- The web app manifest (name, 192x192 and 512x512 icons) and the legacy
browserconfig.xml. - Google's guidelines: a square favicon, at least 8x8 pixels and ideally larger than 48x48, in a format Google Search supports (PNG, ICO, GIF, JPEG and others; SVG is not on Google's list).
